Comments: Probably endemic to Chile. Known from the Peruvian Province to Puerto Montt to Peninsula Taitao and Golfo de Penas. It is known to be infrequent in the fjord region. In northern Chile, a distinct color variety with red column and stellate pattern can be observed (Ref. 87801). C: Ref. 87801.

This species is found in crevices and under rocks in tide pools, and on mytilids and algae in intertidal areas (Ref. 87801).

Members of the class Anthozoa are either gonochoric or hermaphroditic. Mature gametes are shed into the coelenteron and spawned through the mouth. Life cycle: The zygote develops into a planktonic planula larva. Metamorphosis begins with early morphogenesis of tentacles, septa and pharynx before larval settlement on the aboral end.
