Distribution:  Northeast Atlantic, the Mediterranean and the Caspian Sea. Subtropical to temperate.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Coastal species (Ref. 122965, ). Intertidal (Ref. 106825). Prefers to live in muddy sediments of lagoons and estuaries (Ref. 122964). Abundant on soft bottoms of coastal embayments and lagoons (Ref. 122965). Infaunal on sand and eelgrass beds and epifaunal on eelgrass beds (Ref. 95819). This species is a filter (Refs. 78574, 95728) and/or suspension feeder (Ref. 96470).
