Family:  Turbinidae (Turban shells)
Max. size:  5.5 cm SHL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthic; marine; depth range 0 - 1 m
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: from East and South Africa to Melanesia; north to southern Japan and south to Indonesia.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Collected locally for food and shellcraft on the Indochinese peninsula (Ref. 349). Intertidal to immediate subtidal on rocky shores (Ref. 801). Members of the family Turbinidae are herbivorous, consuming small epibenthic algae and vegetable detritus (Ref. 349).
