Environment:  benthic; marine; depth range 0 - 376 m
Distribution:  Atlantic Ocean, Eastern Pacific and the Arctic. Tropical to polar.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Maximum depth from Ref. 117961. Found in muddy gravel. Adults may form "cocoon" around its shell with its byssal threads (Ref. 95344).
