Family:  Veneridae (venus clams)
Max. size:  10.8 cm SHL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthic; marine; depth range 0 - 20 m
Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific: from East and Southeast Africa, to Melanesia; north to southern Japan and south to Queensland and New Caledonia.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Most common in fine sand and muddy sand near mangroves on tidal and shallow subtidal flats (Ref. 348).

Threat to humans:  harmless
