Biology     Glossary (e.g. epibenthic)

Intertidal in oyster beds. Occurs in densities as great as 2100 square meter. Parthenogenic species whose development includes a short-lived non-feeding pelagic larval stage (Ref. 776). Subtidal in coral reef and rock reef (Ref. 1456); commonly found in soft coral, old coral, mussell beds (Ref. 1840) or on rocky bottom (Ref. 776). Associated either with oyster beds, where it lives in and among the shells, or with the encrusting fauna on sea walls, among the vermetid snails, sponges, and tunicates (Ref. 1778). Depth based on the distribution record (Ref. 1456); to be replaced with better reference. In oyster beds near Fort Pierce it occurs in densities as great as 2100 square meter. This species is parthenogenic; its development includes a short-lived non-feeding pelagic larval stage (Ref. 776). Coral reef, rock reef, subtidal (Ref. 1456); Commonly lives in soft coral, old coral or mussel beds (Ref. 1840, p. 154).
