Scotch cured herring
(English) Fresh herring, free from feed, unwashed, gibbed, roused and packed tightly in barrels, mild cure in their own blood pickle (90 deg brine); not repacked; limited keeping quality. Pack about 700 fish to a barrel of 250 lb. nett capacity. (See also: Cure, Brine)
