Definition of Term

marine notch
(English) Sea level indentation into high angle solid substrate shoreline; indentation of 1-3 m is a notch; indentation of > 3 m is a cave; both formations usually at base of cliff, often associated with marine bench/ramp. (See also: cliff, marine, reef)
brèche marine
(French) Entaille du substrat solide d'un rivage en angle droit, au niveau de la mer ; une découpe de 1-3 m est une encoche ; une découpe de plus de 3 m est une caverne ; ces deux formations sont habituellement à une falaise, souvent associées à un haut fond. (See also: cliff, marine, reef)
