Definition of Term

principle of priority
(English) According to the Code, the principle that the valid name of a taxon is the oldest available name applied to it, provided that the name is not invalidated by a provision of the Code or by any ruling by the Commission. (See also: Code, taxon, Commission)

(French) Selon le Code, principe selon lequel le nom valide d'un taxon est le nom disponible le plus ancien qui lui a été attribué, à condition que ce nom n'ait pas été invalidé par un article du Code ou par une décision de la Commission. (See also: Code, taxon, Commission)
pricípio da prioridade
