Remarks 'slug', a 'shell-less land snail'; related to 'sluggard', meaning 'habitually lazy person', from Middle English 'sluggi', sluggish, indolent; perhaps from dialectal Norwegian 'sluggje' meaning 'heavy, slow person'.
