Inhabits exposed live or dead coral heads from 0 to 50 m in areas with strong currents (Ref. 800). Some individuals found to have incompletely exposed arms under edges of dead Acropora sp. (Ref. 100368). Associated with shrimps, lobsters, a polychaete, and fish (Refs. 800, 102254, 102275). Suspension feeder (Ref. 66823).

Members of the class Crinoidea are gonochoric. During spawning, the pinnule walls rupture and the eggs and sperms are shed into the seawater. Life cycle: Embryos elongate into free-swimming larvae (doliolaria) which later sink to the bottom where they metamorphose into stalked sessile crinoid.
