Traditionally collected for food in eastern Polynesia. Abundant on the outer parts of coral reefs, partly imbedded among corals (Ref. 349). Known as a ciliary feeding species. Consumes zooplankton and phytoplankton via mucus-net feeding (Ref. 66969).

Members of the order Neotaenioglossa are mostly gonochoric and broadcast spawners. Life cycle: Embryos develop into planktonic trocophore larvae and later into juvenile veligers before becoming fully grown adults.
