Free-living in muddy-sand bottoms, anchored in the substrate by means of the long anterior and posterior extensions of dorsal margin and with the ventral third of shell projecting. Sublittoral. Often occurs in colonies (Ref. 348). Also found attached on rocks (Ref. 75840).
