Remarks Lying free of fine sand, silt or mud bottoms, commonly in association with marine grasses, coral rubble, and rocks (Ref. 348), and sandy-coralline substrates (Ref. 128042). Sublittoral, form shallow subtidal waters to depths of about 55 m. Able to swim about in jerky motion when disturbed. Occurs frequently in large numbers (Ref. 348).
