Main Ref. Gaydos, J.K. and S.F. Pearson, 2011
Remarks Found on the beach, shoreline, bay and nearshore (Ref. 116102). During migration, and in winter, prefer grassier habitats. Often feed in flocks with other shorebirds. Widely omnivorous; have broad feeding niches particularly during the autumn and spring migrations. Breed on the ground in the Arctic tundra, along the coasts of Alaska, Mackenzie and eastern Siberia. Tropical winter range in Ecuador, South America, migrates from Louisiana and South Dakota, USA during autumn and spring. Metacercariae picked up during migration from intermediate molluscan hosts (Ref. 95178).
