Remarks | Occurs at depths of 0 to 500 m on the continental shelf and slope. Broken shell washed up on beach (Ref. 88739). Has poor vision; instead, utilizes scent and touch to recognize and look for food. At night, it actively forages at 20 m depth. It adjusts gases contained in its chambered body to facility vertical movement (Ref. 101162). |
