Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Non-breeding individuals inhabit swamps, lakes, reservoirs, coastal lagoons and estuaries. Feeds grass, on the roots, shoots, leaves, stems, seed heads and fruits of other herbaceous marsh vegetation, aquatic plants, and agricultural grain and potatoes (Ref. 107894).
