Environment:  benthopelagic; marine
Distribution:  Atlantic Ocean and Indian Ocean: from Bermuda to Portugal, south to South Africa and east to Australia.
Diagnosis:  Up to 10.5 wide, hemispherical, jelly very thick and solid; 8 simple marginal lobes; canals slender, with few anastomoses; mouth-arms like thin, narrow ribbands, margins slightly folded in proximal portions; the sub-genital cavities large, the ostia very small; each marginal sense-club arises from the inner end of a very deep groove and points upward towards the exumbrella.
