Environment:  sessile; marine; depth range 13 - 44 m
Distribution:  Western Central Atlantic.
Diagnosis:  Branches erect and flexible with tips generally tapering and dichotomous, generally attached on a central column and fused to each other at several points. Surface may be completely smooth or finely or coarsely conulose, with developing lobes and processes. Star-shaped oscules irregularly distributed. Color is purple, dark brown, almost black, light brown, purple brown, pink or beige in alcohol; unknown when alive.
