Distribution:  Eastern Indian Ocean: from northwest cape to Esperance, Western Australia.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Exported through the live seafood trade to Singapore and Hongkong (Ref. 115716). Deep-sea species (Refs. 115712, 115715, 115716). Typically a slow growing crab; lives in cold (ca 5-8°C) waters between 500 to 1000 m (Ref. 115716). No diet studies have been conducted on crystal crabs. Based on studies from deep sea crab species, however, this species is likely to be highly opportunistic in its feeding habits, employing strategies of both an active carnivore and a scavenger (Ref. 115722).
