Distribution:  Central Pacific and Atlantic.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Produces dictyol-class diterpenes that prevent it from being eaten by reef fishes (Ref. 86733). Maximum depth from Ref. 102122. In Belize, it was found in a submarine cave near Columbus Cay (Ref. 87209).
