Thalli up to 6 cm high, attached by a small stupose holdfast. Narrow dichotomously branched straps (0.8-1.2 mm) with uniform width throughout the thallus. Smooth margins and surface. Medulla and cortex are uniformly one-layered. Sporangia form a well-defined line in the median part of the straps, but is absent along the margins. Sporangia (80-95 μm in diameter) are borne on a single stalk cell and are not surrounded by an involucrum. Gametangia not observed (Ref. 82093). |
Characters defining D. rigida include the erect growth form, the stiff texture and the single stupose holdfast (De Clerck and Coppejans 1999) (Ref. 82093). |
