Environment:  sessile; marine; depth range 0 - 14 m
Distribution:  Arctic, Atlantic Ocean, Mediterranean and Western Indian Ocean. From Massachusetts, USA to Kara Sea, Mediterranean and India. Polar to subtropical.
Diagnosis:  Body up to 0.08 cm long; about 20 tentacles and more than 10 statocysts; each tentacle of one of the two whorls with a large basal thickening.
