Max. size:  0.81 cm ML (male/unsexed); 1.18 cm ML (female)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range - 2 m
Distribution:  Northwest Pacific: Japan.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  This small nocturnal squid is collected from shallow seagrass beds (approximately less than 2 m) in Okinawa during winter (November to March); its whereabouts during the warmer months are unknown. It is also found, although rarely, in coral habitats. This species has been observed to attack the dorsal side of its prey to immobilise it within a few seconds, then swim in sudden and quick movements or attach to substrate while consuming the prey. The males approach females directly and mate in a head-to-head position (Ref. 129526).
