Distribution:  South America - Inland Waters: Inia geoffrensis geoffrensis: Amazon river and its tributary rivers into the headwaters of the Orinoco; Inia geoffrensis boliviensis: Rio Madeira drainage into Bolivia, border between Brazil and Bolivia; and Inia geoffrensis humboldtiana: Orinoco river.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Found in main river channels, smaller tributaries, lakes, and (seasonally) the flooded forest. Feeds on a large variety of fishes, generally near the bottom; prey have hard outer shells, and they sometimes feed in a coordinated manner, occassonally with Sotalia (Ref. 1394).
