Environment:  benthic; brackish; marine; depth range 0 - 30 m
Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic and the Mediterranean and Black Sea: from Azores to Norway, south to Namibia and east to Turkey. Introduced in the Baltic, Aral and Caspian Seas.
