Max. size:  240 cm TL (male/unsexed); 220 cm TL (female); max.weight: 200 kg
Environment:  pelagic; marine
Distribution:  Pacific Ocean and the Arctic: Phocoenoides dalli dalli: Sea of Okhotsk, Bering Sea, Gulf of Alaska, Sea of Japan, California Current, Baja California Norte, Alaska; Phocoenoides dalli truei: Kuril, Japan. Temperate through subarctic zones.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Mainly an offshore deepwater inhabitant, but occurs in narrow channels and fjords where the water is clear and relatively deep (Ref. 1522). Feeds on surface and mid-water fish and squid, especially lanternfish and gonatid squid (Ref. 1394).
