Distribution:  Western Atlantic: USA and Canada.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Maximum depth from Ref. 115294. Found in shallow waters, invading practically all fresh water of the world. Typical in anthropogenic reservoirs, in warm water discharges from water power stations and in some rivers. Feeds mainly on epiphytic vegetation and macrophytes (Ref. 115283).
