Environment:  sessile; marine; depth range 18 - 1226 m
Distribution:  Southern Ocean and the Antarctic: Antarctica, Kerguelen Island, and Terre Adélie.
Diagnosis:  Greenish gray to yellow. Hemispherical and bristly, with until 2 large conical papillae that contracts when disturbed. Up to 11 cm in diameter (Ref. 089939).
Biology:  Common on cliffs and hard surfaces. Also settles on small stones then extend out onto to the mud. Apparently able to remove sediment build-up by contraction and relaxation. Suspension feeder; preyed upon by starfishes. Larvae disperse by crawling (Ref. 089939).
