Environment:  bathydemersal; freshwater; depth range 50 - 300 m
Distribution:  Europe - Inland Water, Northeast Atlantic and the Arctic.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  The smallest of pinnipeds, it inhabits rivers and lakes. Feeds on freshwater fishes (Ref. 1394).
