Environment:  benthic; marine; depth range 0 - 750 m
Distribution:  Northern Pacific, Northern Atlantic, Arctic and the Mediterranean Sea: from Sea of Japan to Greenland, north to Svalbard and southeast to Kuwait. Polar to subtropical.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Maximum depth from Ref. 107553. This is an attached species (Ref. 3123). Anchored by byssus to coralline and other algae, sessile organisms and rocks (Ref. 95344).
