Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific and Southern Atlantic: from Independence Bay, Peru, to Chile and Juan Fernandez; on the Atlantic coast of South America from Sao Paulo to Argentina, Tristan da Cunha and South Africa.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits intertidal and shallow subtidal zones (Ref. 106003). Occurs on sandy substrates (Ref. 106094). Predator of molluscs. Preyed upon by teleosts and elasmobranchs (Ref. 106003).
