Distribution:  Indo-Pacific, Western Atlantic and the Mediterranean: South and east Africa. Circumtropical to subtropical.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Found on bay and nearshore (Ref. 111151). Estuarine to 5 m (Ref. 3113). Can also be found on pier fouling samples (Ref. 81176). Members of the family Sphaeromatidae are omnivores in general (Ref. 108484).

Country info:  Species reported as introduced, and is now established in Hong Kong (Ref. 124694). Known from Sha Tau Kok, Starfish Bay, Pak Sha Wan, and Mai Po Nature Reserve (Ref. 124798).
