Biology:  Epizoic, subtidal (Ref. 106854). Presumably a continental shelf species associated with alcyonaceans (Ref. 76893).

Country info:  Type locality, Kannonzuka-dashi, Amadaiba, E Sagami Bay, 70-80 m, BLIH 899 (holotype of Uroptychus kudayagi, male) (Ref. 79339). Known from E Sagami Bay and W coast of Kyushu (Ref. 79339), Kushimoto, S Kii Peninsula (Ref. 76890), Ohsezaki, Shizuoka Prefecture (Ref. 3358) and Kume-jima, Okinawa (Refs. 76912, 76914).
