Distribution:  Indo-West Pacific, Southeast Atlantic and the Mediterranean Sea.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Depth based on occurrence; to be replaced with a better reference. Most common in intertidal zone; also found subtidally and in artificial habitats (e.g. cooling systems) that are constantly submerged (Ref. 102526). Attached to a dead Porites sp. (Ref. 102066). Builds a characteristic 2 to 3 cm-long calcareous tube with a flattened 'porch' over the opening of the tube. Also forms aggregations attached to rock in the eulittoral zone (Ref. 102838). Part of epibenthic and arboreal communities in mangrove areas (Ref. 128397).
