Distribution:  Western Atlantic: from USA to Suriname and French Guiana. PĂ©rez Farfante recognizes 2 subspecies: Acetes americanus americanus from Puerto Rico to Brazil and Acetes americanus carolinae from USA to French Guiana (Ref. 75620).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  This is an epipelagic species (Ref. 83922), known from shallow coastal waters (Ref. 8).
