Shell is usually multicolored: a bluish green background, with light and dark reddish brown markings laterally. There are often streaks of green and white on or near the jugum. Girdle is light green or brown. Valves subcarinate.
Upper intertidal zone, on exposed rocks covered by Sargassum. Also found among coralline algae at the low water mark (Ref. 128661).
