Thick encrusting with oscular chimneys, hollow fistules, digitate projections, and lobes: 1.5 cm high, 0.1 - 0.5 cm wide. Oscules: 0.1 - 0.2 cm wide at end of chimneys or spread on projection. Blue internally and externally (Ref. 415).
Rare on mangroves roots (Ref. 415).

Members of the class Demospongiae are hermaphroditic. Life cycle: The zygote develops into parenchymella larva (free-swimming) before settling down on a substrate where it grows into a young sponge.
