Short description Morphology

Shell is long and flat; with the peak near center. Smooth to touch. The coloration varies, but the shell is frequently green with irregular white spotting from the edge to the peak. Shell often bearing tufts of green algae (Ref. 312).

Biology     Glossary (e.g. epibenthic)

Shell length to 5 cm and height to 1.5 cm in Ref. 95344. Occupies the mid- to low intertidal and shallow subtidal zones (Ref. 95344). Herbivorous feeding mainly on larger encrusting red algae of the middle tidal zone. Moves up and down the rocky substrate with the rise and fall of the tides; it shows greater activity at night, as do all limpets (Ref. 312).
