Morphologie
Up to 25 cm wide; the 8 wide marginal lobes each with a very slight central depression; the 8 rhopalar and the 8 adrarial canals unbranched, the other canals branched with occasional anastomoses; mouth arms large, curtain-like, lips complexly folded, with numerous short tentacles, colr violet.

Members of the class Scyphozoa are gonochoric. Life cycle: Egg is laid by the adult medusa which later develops into a free-living planula, then to a scyphistoma to a strobila, and lastly to a free-living young medusa.
