Description The bottom of the bay is hard to medium soft mud and sand, with spots of coral rocks. Four rivers in the Leyter Island flow into the bay: sapaniton in San Miguel, Minuswang and Canomantag in Barugo, and Naugisan in Carigara. In addition, 8 smaller rivers enter the bay and about 39 small streams at various valleys and gullies along the perimeter of the bay dump fresh water and sediments into the bay during and after rainfall. Carigara Bay as defined by FAO No. 37-2, 24 Sept 1957, includes all waters bounded, on the North, by an imaginary straight line drawn from Poro Island to Balwarte Point; and on the East, South, and West, by the mainland of Leyte Island.
