Remarks Nesting populations in Raine Island were observed to fluctuate annually. An example of this is in 1977 an average of 1,347 turtles were seen every night, which decreased to 59 turtles per night in 1978, but recovered to 2,049 turtles per night in 1979. This is since each female nests once every few years.
