Geography and Climate |
Djibouti, with a surface area of 21,980 sq. km., consists largely of volcanic plateau and desert. The climate is hot and dry. Djibouti is an important shipping port. Lakes: there are two medium-sized lakes: Asal and Abbe.
Rivers, floodplains and swamps: none. Discharge to Lake Abbe is from Ethiopia and to Lake Asal from small mountain streams and gullies.
