Geography and Climate Monaco is located in Western Europe, bordering the Mediterranean Sea, on the southern coast of France, near the border with Italy. Area comparatively about three times the size of The Mall in Washington, DC. Total land boundary is 4.4 km , border country is France 4.4 km. Climate is Mediterranean with mild, wet winters and hot, dry summers. Terrain consists of hilly, rugged, rocky. Elevation extreme has the lowest point in Mediterranean Sea 0 m and highest point in Mont Agel 140 m. Geography—note: second smallest independent state in world (after Holy See); almost entirely urban.
