Geography and Climate New Caledonia located in Oceania, are islands in the South Pacific Ocean, east of Australia. Area - comparative: slightly smaller than New Jersey. Climate is tropical; modified by southeast trade winds; hot, humid. Terrain consists of coastal plains with interior mountains. Elevation extreme has the lowest point in Pacific Ocean 0 m and highest point in Mont Panie 1,628 m. Natural resources are nickel, chrome, iron, cobalt, manganese, silver, gold, lead, copper. Natural hazards are typhoons most frequent from November to March.
