This family contains a single genus (Argonauta) and four species (A. argo, A. hians, A. nodosus and A. nouryi) (Ref. 96968). Small to medium-sized octopuses reaching 120 mm mantle length (females), less than 20 mm mantle length (males); epi to mesopelagic in deeper shelf and oceanic waters although occasionally encounteredd on the shelf (Ref. 346).
