Small to large octopods with bell-shaped, semigelatinous body with thick primary web and no intermediate (secondary) web. No white areolar spots. Lateral fins medium to large with distinct lobe near anterior fin insertion. Lateral eyes. Half-orange form gills. Spherical optic lobe; optic nerves pass through white body as single bundle of fibers. Fin-supporting cartilage (shell) U-shaped, outer edges of lateral walls parallel, not tapered to single fine points. Radula and posterior salivary glands may be present or absent. Digestive gland may be entire or bilobed (Ref. 1825, p. 97).
