Trunk: usually little outward visible segmentation. Palps: with 8/9 segments always as long as or longer than proboscis in adults. Proboscis: large compared with trunk, between 3/4 - 2x length of trunk. Ovigers: present in both sexes, with 10 segments; 4 terminal segments of palp with patches of spines on ventral surfaces. Spines: frequently smaller on ovigers of female; shape of spines fall into 4 main categories: peg, needle, spatulate and molariform (Ref. 18). Legs: 4-6 pairs, extremely long and thin, 5-16x longer than trunk, no accessory claws. Tarsus: straight, cylindrical, length subequal to propodus. Chelifores: strongly chelate in juveniles; with 2 segmented scape; deciduous in adult stage. Genital pores: on ventral surface of 2nd coxae of all legs; male smaller with low protuberance whilst; female larger without protuberance. Reproduction and life history: unknown; few juveniles have been described; no male carry eggs or develop larvae.
