:
Small to medium-sized, rather soft shrimps. Pleura of second abdominal segment overlap those of first and third segments, third pair of pereiopods lack pincers. First two pairs of pereiopods similar, with unsegmented carpus, ending in pincers; last 3 pairs (sometimes also second) extremely elongate; exopods present on pereiopods 1 to 4. Colour: usually from pale orange to deep red. Occurring in deeper waters, from the edge of the continental shelf to depths of about 3 000 m. Not commercially fished, but often caught with more commercially important species (Ref. 104052).
