Maximum depth from Ref. 122948. Found in the contiinental shelf and slope (Ref. 105628), where it is most frequent in the former (Ref. 122984). Occurs in the infralittoral zone to a depth of 700 m (Ref. 122984). Also lives in circalittoral and bathyal soft bottoms (Ref. 122983). Inhabits sandy and muddy bottoms (Ref. 122942). Offshore transition species (Ref. 122985).

Members of the class Bivalvia are mostly gonochoric, some are protandric hermaphrodites. Life cycle: Embryos develop into free-swimming trocophore larvae, succeeded by the bivalve veliger, resembling a miniature clam.
